Get Jazzed!

Hey everyone! This was a crazy week for sure!

So transfers happened and good news, I am not leaving Cluj!! But I will not be with Elder Dahl because we are both training new elders up here!! I'm still a Zone Leader, but I am on double duty now which is pretty crazy, but I am super excited! This next transfer will be a great one!!
On the train.

We truly finished the transfer strong, both as a companionship and as a zone. This week we really wanted to find people and teach lessons, getting back to the basics of everything. We had a companionship study and focused on improving our finding so we can have more people taking the lessons and coming to church. We focused on finding new areas of contacting, better teaching in finding situations, and varying our finding methods. We found great success this week with varying our methods, as we found 3 new people from the Area Book that we had not tried yet. One of those was a man named Florin, who came to church and really wants to learn more about the gospel, another was a guy named Daniel who expressed a real interest in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the last named Sami who called us to reschedule a meeting because we wants to meet up so much. Because of our refocus, we have seen more opportunities to share the gospel and to bring others unto Christ. Now we want to use this momentum and start the transfer in an even greater, more energetic fashion.

I had an awesome opportunity to go on an exchange with Elder Coberly this week and we did a lot of great work! Our goal was to contact by the way and talk to as many people as possible, and we did it. We talked to people on the metro, going from place to place, and we saw more and more chances to talk to people. We had over 20 conversations throughout the day and set up many lessons as well. We strove for excellence and we achieved such in a great manner. That day set the tone for the week and is the pillar of what I want this new transfer to be as well.

We had a cool moment with a returning member named Emil this week! We were given ministering assignments from the Elders Quorum and us missionaries were put with him to help do ministering together. This was really cool because right afterwards, he talked with us and wanted to set up a time to meet up so we can establish a plan with our members. He not the most active member, but I can already tell that this will help his testimony and the testimony of others through ministering. I'm super excited and we will see how everything at least starts out this week.

Missionaries serving in Cluj!

We should be obedient to the Lord's council and commandments, for He will be "bound when [we] do what [He says]; but when [we] do not what [He says], [we] have no promise." He is willing to help us and guide us, but we must heed to his word and do what He says. It's not the easiest thing to do, but we will be blessed as we work hard to follow His teachings. I love you all and hope you have a great week!!

Va iubesc,
Elder Bowen

Stand Ye in Holy Places

Hey everyone!!! So this was a really big week and a good amount of things went down, but I don't have all the time to talk about them, so I'll just give you all the basics! Bowen and Hoisington in the street! So the highlight and downfall of this week was when we set a baptismal date with Felix for about 24 hours. So we met up with him this week and we had a lesson about the Plan of Salvation. We had Fratele Matei with us and he was a big help for us because he loves this lesson. So we teach and it went really well and we set a date for August 18th! We were happy, Matei was happy, it was great. But we were talking with him at night and he said he no longer had any faith. So naturally, we meet up with him again and it was an interesting meeting. Essentially he is looking for historical evidence that the Book of Mormon is true and he doesn't have that evidence that it is true. So, we dropped his date and we won't be meeting with him anymore until he starts having ...

Day 1 - to the Provo Missionary Training Center

Day 1 (from David not Cole) The day began so early.  We arrived at the Des Moines Airport at 4:30 for a 6:00 Flight.  Checking in was no problem, but it became real that this was the first steps in embarking on this two year adventure. Saying goodbye was hard for all, but we all kept it all together. The itinerary took Cole from Des Moines to Dallas-Fort Worth to Salt Lake City.  He fortunately met up with a couple other missionaries enroute to the Provo Missionary Training Center (MTC). Aunt Lisa met Cole at the airport.  The flight was slightly delayed, but they were able to get out of Salt Lake quickly as his bags were the first off the plane. We spoke with Cole as they traveled to Provo.  He was in good spirits, and proud to have navigated security, connections, gate changes, and all that excitement. In Provo, he also met up with his Aunt Sara and her family (Uncle Simon, Kajsa, Brynn, Maya, Isak) and Uncle Scott and his family (Aun...

"Whatever it is, we are against it" - Romania?

Hey everyone it was a pretty great week in Bucuresti! Tuesday we had exchanges with the Zone Leaders and I went with Elder Krylborn. He's a pretty awesome guy and we had a really solid day! We spoke in Romanian for a good amount of the day and focused a lot on how to keep accountable with the goals we have set. Overall, it was a great day and we were able to see a lot of success because of our hard work!   At a mall in Bucharest - me being me Wednesday we didn't do much overall except we had someone try to fix our hot water and have it ultimately fail so they told us they would try again the next day. So that was fun? Thursday we had a good day as we met with a member named Fang Shuang (he's from China) do his Family History so that was pretty awesome!! We also got some pretty great lunch with him so that was pretty great! We then had a lesson with a man named Florian who ended up being super awesome! We taught a 30 minute Restoration and he ab...
