Hot Chocolate and Sausages

Hot Chocolate!
Hello everybody! This week was an interesting week but it was still great!

Tuesday was a very beautiful day in Galati. For some reason, Galati was thinking it was not winter. But I am not complaining haha. But other than the weather, the day was pretty rough. We had 3 lessons planned but only one worked out and that lesson was a very awkward, rough lesson. But we pressed through and started English back up again. However, not many people even came to English and that was pretty awkward. But oh well!

Wednesday we visited a member named Sora Prada because she has been having some health problems lately. She went down to Bucharest which was a good for her. But other than that, we really didn't have much go on. Just a simple day for us missionaries.

Thursday we had a lesson scheduled with this Atheist but he ended up cancelling and it made all 3 of us frustrated. Us because another lesson fell through and the Atheist because he actually wants to meet and talk! Instead, Elder Dixon and I drank our sorrows away with hot chocolate from this pretty cool coffee shop so that was a plus haha. We turned the day around though with some pretty good contacting and conversations with people.

Sausages
Friday was probably our most productive day because we actually had a lesson!! It was with this man named Radu who we met on the street. He only wants to talk in English (even though he isn't the best English speaker) and we just taught him the Restoration. He was really into what we were saying and because he wanted us to speak in English, we had to speak very simplified and short to help him understand. It ended very well and he wants to keep meeting up with us. We gave him a Book of Mormon and we will see how that goes. We then finished the night calling people and trying to set up for lessons next week. In doing so, we ended up having this conversation with this girl named Maria who is going through a lot of stuff at the moment. She just told us everything going on and we were able to testify of ways to help, such as the Book of Mormon, prayer, and our lessons. She said she would totally be up to it once she gets back into Galati in May...So we have a potential investigator, but only when May comes haha.

Saturday was a very stressful day in general. We had to teach English for 2 classes and those both were pretty rough. Not many people showed up and it was quite awkward. We then had to prepare a lot of stuff for our Christmas play and that was really frustrating because we were given a lot of stuff to deal with. However, we managed to get everything ready for the program and it all ended very well. We had a Muslim English student come which was cool and a less-active member brought her boyfriend along which was pretty sweet! We then had a huge dinner together and it was super fun!

Sunday was a chill day. I had to give a talk in Sacrament meeting and that was quite a thrill. I talked about humility and made it as simple as possible with my Romanian. But it was super great and I could feel the Spirit strongly as I testified of the gospel. Not much else happened but it was a solid day overall.

The Branch Nativity

My Joseph Costume and the baby Jesus

While this week was a pretty rough one, I still had the opportunity to do a lot. I read the scriptures a whole lot this week and I was in the amazing Jesus chapters in 3 Nephi 11-30. Reading the words of Jesus to the Nephites is so powerful because every verse is so meaningful. However, I felt the Spirit the most reading 3 Nephi 30:2. It is essentially everything Jesus taught, His Gospel, in one verse. We must have faith in Christ, repent of all our wrongdoings, come unto Christ, be baptized in his name, receive the Holy Ghost, and endure to the end and we will live in the mansions of heaven that God has promised us.

I hope your weeks are super awesome and the next time you hear from me, it'll be CHRISTMAS!!!!!! Have faith in the Lord, trust in the Lord, rejoice in the Lord!

Me and Elmo!

Va iubesc,

Elder Bowen

Stand Ye in Holy Places

Hey everyone!!! So this was a really big week and a good amount of things went down, but I don't have all the time to talk about them, so I'll just give you all the basics! Bowen and Hoisington in the street! So the highlight and downfall of this week was when we set a baptismal date with Felix for about 24 hours. So we met up with him this week and we had a lesson about the Plan of Salvation. We had Fratele Matei with us and he was a big help for us because he loves this lesson. So we teach and it went really well and we set a date for August 18th! We were happy, Matei was happy, it was great. But we were talking with him at night and he said he no longer had any faith. So naturally, we meet up with him again and it was an interesting meeting. Essentially he is looking for historical evidence that the Book of Mormon is true and he doesn't have that evidence that it is true. So, we dropped his date and we won't be meeting with him anymore until he starts having ...

Day 1 - to the Provo Missionary Training Center

Day 1 (from David not Cole) The day began so early.  We arrived at the Des Moines Airport at 4:30 for a 6:00 Flight.  Checking in was no problem, but it became real that this was the first steps in embarking on this two year adventure. Saying goodbye was hard for all, but we all kept it all together. The itinerary took Cole from Des Moines to Dallas-Fort Worth to Salt Lake City.  He fortunately met up with a couple other missionaries enroute to the Provo Missionary Training Center (MTC). Aunt Lisa met Cole at the airport.  The flight was slightly delayed, but they were able to get out of Salt Lake quickly as his bags were the first off the plane. We spoke with Cole as they traveled to Provo.  He was in good spirits, and proud to have navigated security, connections, gate changes, and all that excitement. In Provo, he also met up with his Aunt Sara and her family (Uncle Simon, Kajsa, Brynn, Maya, Isak) and Uncle Scott and his family (Aun...

"Whatever it is, we are against it" - Romania?

Hey everyone it was a pretty great week in Bucuresti! Tuesday we had exchanges with the Zone Leaders and I went with Elder Krylborn. He's a pretty awesome guy and we had a really solid day! We spoke in Romanian for a good amount of the day and focused a lot on how to keep accountable with the goals we have set. Overall, it was a great day and we were able to see a lot of success because of our hard work!   At a mall in Bucharest - me being me Wednesday we didn't do much overall except we had someone try to fix our hot water and have it ultimately fail so they told us they would try again the next day. So that was fun? Thursday we had a good day as we met with a member named Fang Shuang (he's from China) do his Family History so that was pretty awesome!! We also got some pretty great lunch with him so that was pretty great! We then had a lesson with a man named Florian who ended up being super awesome! We taught a 30 minute Restoration and he ab...
