Covrigs and Octopus

Near the center of Galati
Hey everyone I am still alive and doing well in Romania so I will tell you all the happenings of life.

Tuesday was technically Halloween but Romanians do not celebrate that. It was kind of a let down but oh well that's life. Elder Dixon and I got to meet with the Branch President of our branch, President Titi. He is such a cool man with an amazing conversion story. He essentially was looking for truth for so long and when he was about to give up, the missionaries came. Now he's an amazing member and branch president. Elder Dixon and I were able to talk to him and teach him the restoration for practice (mainly for me haha). President Titi was very impressed to see I can speak the language better than some missionaries would have been here for a while. He also gave some good insights on how to make the restoration more effective, like asking questions and making it more personal. It must be good advice cause he is a convert himself. The rest of the day was pretty normal. However, we started these free English classes and a lot of people came to the first one. It was super awesome and it was even better to see that most of the people there were actually interested in our message and why we were there. Super awesome!

Wednesday the Galati elders went up to Chisinau, Moldova to go to a zone conference. It was pretty bumpy on the way there but we made it. The best part though was that we saw Elder Atkinson! It was soooo awesome to see him and talk with him and see how he's doing! but other than that, it was pretty chill cause we spent 4+ hours on a bumpy bus...

Awesome Elders of Galati (even if it is kind of blurry)

Thursday was the actual zone conference and we had Elder and Sister Johnson of the 70 come and teach us. It was super awesome to be with them and all the missionaries in our zone. We learned a lot about being an effective missionary and to be a high yield, low maintenance missionary. Working hard and obeying God's commandments is the key to being an awesome missionary. Such a great conference!! We also are preparing for our Christmas push which is super exciting cause it brings a lot of success to all missionaries.

Friday we slept in a little bit cause we arrived really late Thursday night. But we got out the door by 10 which was pretty great! Friday we decided to go to this village called Filesti which was waaay out there. We walked sooo much that day which was rough but met a kid named Julian who was really interested in our message and thought everything about the restoration was awesome! It really made a rough day great!

Saturday was a great day cause I ate octopus! So we went to a restaurant with a member and ate seafood. But apparently there was octopus in the meal and Elder Dixon did not tell me until 2 hours afterwards. But hey it was really good and I was surprised honestly. We also taught English again and more people are getting interested in our message and I really think a couple people will go far with all the spiritual thoughts we leave them with. We also invited a man to church out of the blue on the street but he seemed really interested because of that. We as a companionship have been trying to just invite all to come unto Christ cause that is our purpose. Christ wants everyone to come unto him (2 Nephi 26:33).

Sunday was fast Sunday and it was rough not eating food for a while. We walked a lot but it was all for a good cause. I also taught Sunday School during church which was really surprising cause it just happened out of the blue. But we just talked about the restoration and it is still helping me improve what to say and how to say it. It was really great and I definitely see my self improving a lot in the few weeks I've been here. We also taught our first investigator named Matias. He seems to understand what we have to say and has a lot of questions to go along with it. It was awesome and I see a lot of potential in him!

I am living life here in Romania. I've learned that covrigs are the greatest food ever. Look it up and you will wish you had it haha. I love you all and miss you all! Keep being awesome!

Stand Ye in Holy Places

Hey everyone!!! So this was a really big week and a good amount of things went down, but I don't have all the time to talk about them, so I'll just give you all the basics! Bowen and Hoisington in the street! So the highlight and downfall of this week was when we set a baptismal date with Felix for about 24 hours. So we met up with him this week and we had a lesson about the Plan of Salvation. We had Fratele Matei with us and he was a big help for us because he loves this lesson. So we teach and it went really well and we set a date for August 18th! We were happy, Matei was happy, it was great. But we were talking with him at night and he said he no longer had any faith. So naturally, we meet up with him again and it was an interesting meeting. Essentially he is looking for historical evidence that the Book of Mormon is true and he doesn't have that evidence that it is true. So, we dropped his date and we won't be meeting with him anymore until he starts having ...

Day 1 - to the Provo Missionary Training Center

Day 1 (from David not Cole) The day began so early.  We arrived at the Des Moines Airport at 4:30 for a 6:00 Flight.  Checking in was no problem, but it became real that this was the first steps in embarking on this two year adventure. Saying goodbye was hard for all, but we all kept it all together. The itinerary took Cole from Des Moines to Dallas-Fort Worth to Salt Lake City.  He fortunately met up with a couple other missionaries enroute to the Provo Missionary Training Center (MTC). Aunt Lisa met Cole at the airport.  The flight was slightly delayed, but they were able to get out of Salt Lake quickly as his bags were the first off the plane. We spoke with Cole as they traveled to Provo.  He was in good spirits, and proud to have navigated security, connections, gate changes, and all that excitement. In Provo, he also met up with his Aunt Sara and her family (Uncle Simon, Kajsa, Brynn, Maya, Isak) and Uncle Scott and his family (Aun...

"Whatever it is, we are against it" - Romania?

Hey everyone it was a pretty great week in Bucuresti! Tuesday we had exchanges with the Zone Leaders and I went with Elder Krylborn. He's a pretty awesome guy and we had a really solid day! We spoke in Romanian for a good amount of the day and focused a lot on how to keep accountable with the goals we have set. Overall, it was a great day and we were able to see a lot of success because of our hard work!   At a mall in Bucharest - me being me Wednesday we didn't do much overall except we had someone try to fix our hot water and have it ultimately fail so they told us they would try again the next day. So that was fun? Thursday we had a good day as we met with a member named Fang Shuang (he's from China) do his Family History so that was pretty awesome!! We also got some pretty great lunch with him so that was pretty great! We then had a lesson with a man named Florian who ended up being super awesome! We taught a 30 minute Restoration and he ab...
