Week 2 of Awesomeness

You know what time it is?? It is email time!!! I finally have had a full week in the MTC so I have a lot to talk about. A lot to talk about and not a lot of time to talk about it so I'll be as precise as possible.

Sunday was my first Sacrament meeting in the MTC and boy it was strange having it without little kids crying a bunch! Sacrament meeting was focused on repentance and all the talks were wonderful. The biggest thing I learned from that was that repentance is a happy thing!!! We should be happy repenting and changing our lives for the better. I realize it may be hard, but things will get better if you have a change of heart for the best. I can attest to that fully! Other than that, Sunday was a chill day. We had a devotional and the speakers talked about fully converting ourselves to the gospel. It was really inspiring that we have to be our first convert before we can start converting others.

Monday was probably my roughest day so far. My companions and I had a lesson in Romanian and we struggled to feel the Spirit strongly. We ended up talking about the lesson afterwards and discussing what went wrong. We realized the problem was we weren't clicking together as a companionship. We needed to work together at a common goal and love each other in order to really succeed in teaching. Ever since then our lessons have been great and our bond has been greater!!

Tuesday was awesome because Elder Cook of the 12 came and spoke to the missionaries!!!! It was so cool to actually see him so close!!! He talked a lot on missionary work and how we need love to truly succeed. We have to love the people, our companions, our mission president, and the Savior. If we do all those things we will have the most successful mission possible. I really thought that was amazing because I am a meek missionary of 18 years of age who has to learn a language in 6 weeks. But if I put my trust and love in all those things, I will truly succeed and have a great mission.

Wednesday was also a great experience, mainly cause my bond with my companions grew so much more. We mainly talked to each other about our personal lives and fun stuff that did not pertain to missionary work. We learned that we are all different people with different experiences but we have the same purpose as missionaries and that will bring us closer and closer.
We also received packages for Elder Atkinson which contained a buffet of treats and goodies that make all the other missionaries jealous. But that shouldn't stop all you from sending packages and letters :)

Thursday was extremely hard mainly for Elder Atkinson. He began to have shoulder spasms half way through the day and he is still hurting really bad today. He is a tough person though let me tell you. He has been dealing through this pain so well that I am jealous of his strength. Today though he couldn't get out of bed and needed a blessing. I felt so honored when he asked me to do the blessing. I could feel the spirit in the blessing and I truly hope he gets better soon. Prayers out to him!!!

I want people to read Isaiah 41:10. It's about how the Lord will be by our side when we are dealing with hard times in life. it has truly helped me as I keep learning the basics of missionary work.

I love and miss you all and I hope everything is going great!

Stand Ye in Holy Places

Hey everyone!!! So this was a really big week and a good amount of things went down, but I don't have all the time to talk about them, so I'll just give you all the basics! Bowen and Hoisington in the street! So the highlight and downfall of this week was when we set a baptismal date with Felix for about 24 hours. So we met up with him this week and we had a lesson about the Plan of Salvation. We had Fratele Matei with us and he was a big help for us because he loves this lesson. So we teach and it went really well and we set a date for August 18th! We were happy, Matei was happy, it was great. But we were talking with him at night and he said he no longer had any faith. So naturally, we meet up with him again and it was an interesting meeting. Essentially he is looking for historical evidence that the Book of Mormon is true and he doesn't have that evidence that it is true. So, we dropped his date and we won't be meeting with him anymore until he starts having ...

Day 1 - to the Provo Missionary Training Center

Day 1 (from David not Cole) The day began so early.  We arrived at the Des Moines Airport at 4:30 for a 6:00 Flight.  Checking in was no problem, but it became real that this was the first steps in embarking on this two year adventure. Saying goodbye was hard for all, but we all kept it all together. The itinerary took Cole from Des Moines to Dallas-Fort Worth to Salt Lake City.  He fortunately met up with a couple other missionaries enroute to the Provo Missionary Training Center (MTC). Aunt Lisa met Cole at the airport.  The flight was slightly delayed, but they were able to get out of Salt Lake quickly as his bags were the first off the plane. We spoke with Cole as they traveled to Provo.  He was in good spirits, and proud to have navigated security, connections, gate changes, and all that excitement. In Provo, he also met up with his Aunt Sara and her family (Uncle Simon, Kajsa, Brynn, Maya, Isak) and Uncle Scott and his family (Aun...

"Whatever it is, we are against it" - Romania?

Hey everyone it was a pretty great week in Bucuresti! Tuesday we had exchanges with the Zone Leaders and I went with Elder Krylborn. He's a pretty awesome guy and we had a really solid day! We spoke in Romanian for a good amount of the day and focused a lot on how to keep accountable with the goals we have set. Overall, it was a great day and we were able to see a lot of success because of our hard work!   At a mall in Bucharest - me being me Wednesday we didn't do much overall except we had someone try to fix our hot water and have it ultimately fail so they told us they would try again the next day. So that was fun? Thursday we had a good day as we met with a member named Fang Shuang (he's from China) do his Family History so that was pretty awesome!! We also got some pretty great lunch with him so that was pretty great! We then had a lesson with a man named Florian who ended up being super awesome! We taught a 30 minute Restoration and he ab...
