Resist the Hun

We have been trying hard to get lessons with our friends, but it's been hard with all the meetings going on. It was great to have Gabriel at Zone Conference and I know the Spirit touched his heart about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. But he has been stubborn with us and is not trusting in God and saying that God does not love him, which is making his progression kind of stagnant. We have a very roller coaster relationship and it's been really hard to keep the Spirit a constant in his life. It's really hard and we are hoping to have him be the one choosing his path instead of just us telling him what to do. We are keeping the Spirit in our preparation with him and we're going to make sure this week to continue to bring him closer to Christ. He has been our most progressing friend at the moment because inability to meet with people, but we are going to get lessons set up and continue to get people to come unto Christ. We got this great guy to church this week named Tudor and he has a lot of potential to progress. He is really curious and wants to learn, leading to him to come to church and accept a Book of Mormon. So now we just need to set up lessons to make sure he doesn't fall away super quickly. We have a bunch of other people that we really hope to set up lessons with so I'm excited to have lessons with people.

We had this great branch activity yesterday in the park doing missionary work! It was just a small activity to try and get the members involved more in missionary work and it went well! We paired up with a member and that led to an instant friend for the people we talked to. We had a good amount of success and I would definitely want to do it again, but maybe at a different time, different place to get more members there. The people were out, but we didn't have that many forces to go and talk to people. Nevertheless, it was a fun time and I really hope that this little activity leads to more involvement with the members in missionary work!

We also had a really good exchange with the Sibiu elders! It was unfortunate that the other elders from Cluj couldn't come, but we were able to do great things together! We had a successful time talking to people, got a bunch of numbers, and had a fun time. We tried to do some sport contacting in the park and because of that, we got 3 numbers and set up a return lesson with someone, so I will take that as success for us elders here in Cluj!

I love the verse in Alma 15:16 where Amulek forsakes his life for the word of God and I feel like I am doing that here in Romania and it inspires me because Amulek was such a great missionary and saw so much success and that's because he put the Lord first and His Gospel was constantly on his lips and mind. It gives me the energy to get up in the morning and to do this marvelous work. So this will be a great week and I am so pumped to go out and do God's will and bring souls unto Christ! I love you all and I hope and pray that this week goes super great!!

Va iubesc,
Elder Bowen

With Every Hardship, There is Ease

Hey everyone, this was a pretty fun week for us! First off, crazy awesome miracle!!! So for the past couple weeks, we haven't been able to get in contact with our good friend DragoČ™. But we found him on the street and we invited him to church and the most amazing thing happened. He told us that these past weeks he had been in the hospital because of something with his head. But while in the hospital, he had a dream with an angelic person telling him that he needed to be baptized in the church of Jesus Christ. So on Sunday he told us he wants to be baptized as soon as possible, which leads to us having a baptismal date with him for the 3rd of August. God works in marvelous ways because he truly loves us. Another cool miracle this week was our friend Amber. She's from China and is doing volunteer work here in Romania. This week we started teaching her Romanian/Gospel and its been really great! She also loves the piano so she played the piano for us at church! She loved ch...

Stand Ye in Holy Places

Hey everyone!!! So this was a really big week and a good amount of things went down, but I don't have all the time to talk about them, so I'll just give you all the basics! Bowen and Hoisington in the street! So the highlight and downfall of this week was when we set a baptismal date with Felix for about 24 hours. So we met up with him this week and we had a lesson about the Plan of Salvation. We had Fratele Matei with us and he was a big help for us because he loves this lesson. So we teach and it went really well and we set a date for August 18th! We were happy, Matei was happy, it was great. But we were talking with him at night and he said he no longer had any faith. So naturally, we meet up with him again and it was an interesting meeting. Essentially he is looking for historical evidence that the Book of Mormon is true and he doesn't have that evidence that it is true. So, we dropped his date and we won't be meeting with him anymore until he starts having ...

Dust of a Joke

Hey everyone, it was a pretty interesting week for me over here! First off, thank you all for the birthday wishes! Entering a new decade is weird but it's going to be a fun one! It was definitely a wild week for us here in Pitesti. We had a really good start to the week with meeting with Dragos and Zone Conference, but something happened in the middle of the week that caused the good start to end roughly. Dragos stopped responding to calls and texts, even though he was reading them just fine. In the end, he didn't get baptized and didn't come to church. But we might have some hope because he texted this morning saying that he was in the hospital again and didn't have access to his telephone. Apparently his mother had his phone the entire time he was in the hospital. We're not 100% sure if that's the truth so we are going to try and meet with him and figure out what's going on. It's kinda sad but we are working hard to try and get him back. But at the...
