Don't Bernie Me!

Hey guys, this was a killer week over here in the great country of Romania!

This was a pretty good week! It felt super short because I wasn't in Cluj the entire week, but it was good overall. We have been really focusing on strengthening our investigators by following up and keeping daily contact with them. It's been extremely evident with Gabriel how it's impacted him. He just entered into the Book of Enos now and he came to church once again! This time he wore a suit and button up shirt and that was super awesome to see. He's struggling, however, with his trust in God and believing that God truly loves him. Because of that, he has been distancing himself from us and that's been kind of rough to handle. But we will still pray for him and continue to look for opportunities to serve him. The daily contact has also been huge for Robert. He is reading in 2 Nephi and even though he doesn't understand everything, he knows he needs to read and pray to receive an answer from God. Now, heading into this new week, we really want to have a very balanced approach to finding, involving members and English and also finding through our own efforts.

Speaking of members, we have been looking for a revamp on our member work, because our members on our 3 member plan have either left the country for reasons or they cannot meet at all this month. So we focused our branch council on finding members that are in spiritual need and President Kiss recommended us a few members and we are super excited to start meeting these members and help them come back unto Christ. We also established some meetings with the Branch President and we'll continue to work with him so we can be a blessing and a support to the branch.

So the reason I wasn't in Cluj for most of the week was because I was at MLC with Elder Kemeny and that was awesome! I was good to see everyone and to discuss about how to help the missionaries in our respective zones. We then had a skype call with our zone and it's a good feeling to be so unified as a zone. We are rocking it out here and we are ready to blow people's minds!

God loves us so much. There is no possible way God doesn't love us. He has given us so much and I know that each thing is because he wants us to be happy and safe and healthy and to have peace and joy and love in our lives. I may not be fluent in Romanian, I may not have the most day to day success, but I am happy. It reminds me of the great Ammon of old who said..."And we have entered into their houses and taught them, and we have taught them in their streets; yea, and we have taught them upon their hills; and we have also entered into their temples and their synagogues and taught them; and we have been cast out, and mocked, and spit upon, and smote upon our cheeks; and we have been stoned, and taken and bound with strong cords, and cast into prison; and through the power and wisdom of God we have been delivered again." (Alma 26:29). So never forget that God loves you. He truly does and will help you through every aspect of your life if you trust in him. I love you all and I hope that you guys have a great week!!!

Va iubesc,
Elder Bowen

With Every Hardship, There is Ease

Hey everyone, this was a pretty fun week for us! First off, crazy awesome miracle!!! So for the past couple weeks, we haven't been able to get in contact with our good friend DragoČ™. But we found him on the street and we invited him to church and the most amazing thing happened. He told us that these past weeks he had been in the hospital because of something with his head. But while in the hospital, he had a dream with an angelic person telling him that he needed to be baptized in the church of Jesus Christ. So on Sunday he told us he wants to be baptized as soon as possible, which leads to us having a baptismal date with him for the 3rd of August. God works in marvelous ways because he truly loves us. Another cool miracle this week was our friend Amber. She's from China and is doing volunteer work here in Romania. This week we started teaching her Romanian/Gospel and its been really great! She also loves the piano so she played the piano for us at church! She loved ch...

Week 3 in the books!

HEYYYYY YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS???? It is email time!!!!!!!!! This week was full of entertainment and I have a lot to tell you so listen up! Sunday was another great day in the MTC! The talks in our sacrament meeting were focused around the Holy Ghost which really brought the spirit to the meeting. We also got the opportunity to watch a talk by Elder Bednar called "Recognizing the Spirit". I learned really one big thing from that talk and it was to QUIT WORRYING ABOUT IT!!!! If you are given a prompting and it tells you to do something good, then do it. It is the Holy Ghost working among you and you should not doubt that fact. I really loved how even though that talk was years in the past, it stills applies to today! I was also called to be Zone Leader of my entire Zone , which freaks me out cause I am the youngest elder out of all of them but I feel blessed to be put in that position. My zone is gonna rock!!  (A zone is a group of missionary districts, and districts ar...

Christmas Without Sarmale Does Not Exist

Hey everyone this was a great week here in Timisoara!! So this week we had TRANSFERS!! So usually I don't freak out because of transfers but since a lot of missionaries are coming in and out, a lot of things are going to happen regardless of who you are. I am one of those people who faced some change because of transfers. I will no longer be training Elder Strobel here in Timisoara, but I am a Zone Leader with Elder Dahl in Cluj. So I'm pretty surprised, but excited at the same time. Even though I'm leaving Timisoara and Elder Strobel, the work still goes on and I know that I am needed in Cluj for a reason. I'm excited to be with Elder Dahl and to learn from him and to work hard alongside him in Cluj. I'm excited to be a Zone Leader and to lead this West Zone and to help it bring success and see the fruit of our labors. I am very grateful for the time I spent in Timisoara and I know I am a better person and a better missionary because of it. I am ready to bring ...
