The Tale of the Blue Jabba the Hutt

Hey everyone!! This was a crazy week but super awesome!!!
Tree of Life?

We started getting things done and off our plates which lead to more time finding and doing missionary work. We've been putting the focus a lot on finding people to open our teaching pool. So we took a lot of advice from our Zone Conference presentation and put it to practice. I will be honest, it has been much for invigorating for Elder Dahl and I and we have seen more opportunities come. We have been doing a much better job finding by the way and because of that, we have found more and more people willing to listen to the gospel. We are still weak and have a lot to learn, but the effort has really helped us energize our finding efforts. We have also been using other methods like English to bring in young people willing to learn. For example, there is a young man named Elisei who expressed a really sincere desire to meet up (he even said he can't wait to have a meeting to talk about the church) and we have established a date to meet with him and we are excited to see his progress. I think the next step we must take is teaching these people the lessons and helping them gain a desire to come to church and be baptized. But for now, we have been improving the first step of finding and we have been seeing much success from that.

We have also been working hard with members and involving them in the work. Darius has been eager and excited to be in our lessons and we have prepared many times for these member present lessons, but the people have not showed up which is the only irritating part about all this. Vasile has also expressed this desire and their involvement will really help both them progress towards our goals for them. I'm excited to work with them and all the other members to help grow this branch.
The Romanian Countryside

We had our exchange with Timisoara this week as well and it went great! I was with Elder Froerer and we did good things together. First off, we had a very great day of SYL so that just made everything super great! We had good studies, worked hard, talked to a good amount of people, so I say it was a success.

We also had Zone Conference and that was super awesome! It was my first Zone Conference as a Zone Leader and it was pretty fun, but kind of stressful haha. But we learned a lot, had a good time, ate some good pizza and oranges, and had a dope White Elephant party in which I was given a disco lamp. So yes, it was a good time!
We found facemasks in our apartment :)

Keep it simple, for through small and simple things, great things come to pass. Don't worry about all the micro details, just concentrate your focus on making your good better and your better best. It won't happen right away, but slowly and steadily it will. I hope you all have a great week and you do great things!! I love you all and miss you all!!

Va iubesc,
Elder Bowen

Stand Ye in Holy Places

Hey everyone!!! So this was a really big week and a good amount of things went down, but I don't have all the time to talk about them, so I'll just give you all the basics! Bowen and Hoisington in the street! So the highlight and downfall of this week was when we set a baptismal date with Felix for about 24 hours. So we met up with him this week and we had a lesson about the Plan of Salvation. We had Fratele Matei with us and he was a big help for us because he loves this lesson. So we teach and it went really well and we set a date for August 18th! We were happy, Matei was happy, it was great. But we were talking with him at night and he said he no longer had any faith. So naturally, we meet up with him again and it was an interesting meeting. Essentially he is looking for historical evidence that the Book of Mormon is true and he doesn't have that evidence that it is true. So, we dropped his date and we won't be meeting with him anymore until he starts having ...

Day 1 - to the Provo Missionary Training Center

Day 1 (from David not Cole) The day began so early.  We arrived at the Des Moines Airport at 4:30 for a 6:00 Flight.  Checking in was no problem, but it became real that this was the first steps in embarking on this two year adventure. Saying goodbye was hard for all, but we all kept it all together. The itinerary took Cole from Des Moines to Dallas-Fort Worth to Salt Lake City.  He fortunately met up with a couple other missionaries enroute to the Provo Missionary Training Center (MTC). Aunt Lisa met Cole at the airport.  The flight was slightly delayed, but they were able to get out of Salt Lake quickly as his bags were the first off the plane. We spoke with Cole as they traveled to Provo.  He was in good spirits, and proud to have navigated security, connections, gate changes, and all that excitement. In Provo, he also met up with his Aunt Sara and her family (Uncle Simon, Kajsa, Brynn, Maya, Isak) and Uncle Scott and his family (Aun...

"Whatever it is, we are against it" - Romania?

Hey everyone it was a pretty great week in Bucuresti! Tuesday we had exchanges with the Zone Leaders and I went with Elder Krylborn. He's a pretty awesome guy and we had a really solid day! We spoke in Romanian for a good amount of the day and focused a lot on how to keep accountable with the goals we have set. Overall, it was a great day and we were able to see a lot of success because of our hard work!   At a mall in Bucharest - me being me Wednesday we didn't do much overall except we had someone try to fix our hot water and have it ultimately fail so they told us they would try again the next day. So that was fun? Thursday we had a good day as we met with a member named Fang Shuang (he's from China) do his Family History so that was pretty awesome!! We also got some pretty great lunch with him so that was pretty great! We then had a lesson with a man named Florian who ended up being super awesome! We taught a 30 minute Restoration and he ab...
