Hey everyone this was a great week here in Timisoara!!
First off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROMANIA!!!! It was recently the 100 year anniversary of Romania becoming Romania, so obviously, there was a party. I did buy a mini flag and a Romania pin to celebrate the big day!!!
Also pretty fun news, we got to go to Bucuresti for a training meeting for us in training. It was pretty fun except we went on sleeper trains there and back which led to a very tiring Wednesday in Bucuresti, but hey, it's all worth it.
Probably the highlight of the week was when we had our lessons with Loredana. We had 2 lessons and both of them went really well. The first lesson was centered on the Plan of Salvation and our main focus was to help Loredana understand Christ's Atonement and why He knows our suffering. And we accomplished that goal. We both testified really hard and my last testimony left her speechless and saying "That's a good point..". The Spirit was really strong and I think we really answered her major questions. Then we followed-up and had another lesson and this time we did an impromptu Gospel of Jesus Christ because she expressed a concern for repentance. So we gave her that lesson and we focused on repentance and baptism a lot. We learned that she has faith in Jesus Christ and that before she can go to baptism, she needs to understand repentance and how she can be forgiven of her sins. Elder Strobel did a great job and was picking up my slack and was leading the way throughout the lesson. And I believe these two lessons were the defining reason she came to church on Sunday! Slow steps for her, but we are going in the right direction. We weren't able to have any other huge lessons because of everyone being gone for Romania Day, but we kept in contact with everyone and this upcoming week should be an even better one.
We really want to start working with the members much much more, especially with the Light the World initiative going on. We discussed as a branch and we are going to make treats and write notes to our friends and members that we don't see often and show that we love them as well for the day of service. It's not the most glamorous idea, but this is what the members came up with and the members are going to take charge with this, which is exciting for us missionaries. We are going to work really hard to have some family home evenings where we can share Light the World with everyone and we hope it'll bring more people to church, returning members and friends. We really want to start working with Fratele Paniti as well because we got to use him before he goes in depression again. He has some ideas of getting people to church so we'll use him a lot with as many people as possible.
Elder Strobel and I have been rocking the world out here, but that doesn't mean it's super hard haha. This is when you do your best and leave it to God to do the rest. I also like the saying "Good, Better, Best, never let it rest until your Good is Better and your Better is Best." Never let it rest until you are doing your best. I have been working hard, but I still have a long way to go. But God loves us and He will help us when we go to the mount, carrying our burdens and crying to him to help us. And if we ask with a sincere heart, it shall be given unto us. I love you all and miss you all. Light the world this week and impact someone's life!!! LOVES!
