I Am in the Pocket of a General Authority

Our Mountain!
Elder Thomson and Bowen

Hello everybody!! This was a super fire week here in the great city of Pitești!!!!

Tuesday was a pretty slow day overall. We were able, though, to get a pretty cool new potential investigator named Gheorghe. He is an older man who knows the branch president in Panduri and he respects us a whole lot. He said he really would like to meet up so we are excited to see how that goes.

Wednesday we had a really special Zone Conference in București. Elder De Feo of the 70 (one of the central leadership groups of the church) came and he had a whole lot to talk about. It was a super spiritual event for everyone there. A huge focus was about letting the Spirit teach us instead of him. He told us to write down what we felt in our hearts throughout the conference while also writing down what we were taught. That was super cool and I felt the Spirit teach me in more ways than I thought possible. A cool part of the conference was when Elder De Feo told us to "arise into the mountain" to find spiritual guidance to know what to do with our investigators. So Elder Thomson and I decided to do so--by standing on a pile of bricks we called our mountain. Elder De Feo thought that was super awesome and took a picture of what we were doing. So we are now on his phone, which is in his pocket, so don't be surprised when we are in one of his General Conference talks in the future haha. Overall it was such a great day and we were able to see so many awesome people.

Thursday we had a lesson with Mihai about the simplest commandments like obedience, prayer, scripture study, and following the prophet. That led to him telling us he is struggling with not drinking coffee. So we are helping him quit coffee so he can be ready for his baptism on the 23rd. I'm excited for him and I hope everything goes well as he stops drinking coffee. We then reactivated a former investigator named Cătălin and he is a super cool dude! He really wants to come back and learn more so we are going to teach him again and hope that he is solid this time!!!

My buddy Elder Jacobson who is finishing his mission soon.

Friday we had a interesting day. Nothing much happened except sports night, where we Americans got beat up by the guys we were playing basketball with. We got kicked, slapped, cut, etc. all because the people we were playing with didn't really know how to play clean. So we got pretty ticked off and we kind of just left it alone for the time being. But next week, watch out haha.

Saturday we had a good English class and met this awesome guy named Dragoș who turned out to be a super cool guy. He wants to know more about our church because he has never heard about us so we think we can get somewhere with him!

Sunday we had a good time at church. Luminița was confirmed a member and that brought everything full circle. We then had another cool experience where a granddaughter of a less-active member came to church and wants to continue coming to church and be baptized. Her name is Roxy and we are super excited for her because she already has read the scriptures a whole lot and wants to know more really badly. So we have a great teaching pool for this upcoming week and we are super excited to get to work.

Keep being your awesome selves and I can't wait to hear about all the blessings you receive for being righteous sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father! Love you all!

With Every Hardship, There is Ease

Hey everyone, this was a pretty fun week for us! First off, crazy awesome miracle!!! So for the past couple weeks, we haven't been able to get in contact with our good friend Dragoș. But we found him on the street and we invited him to church and the most amazing thing happened. He told us that these past weeks he had been in the hospital because of something with his head. But while in the hospital, he had a dream with an angelic person telling him that he needed to be baptized in the church of Jesus Christ. So on Sunday he told us he wants to be baptized as soon as possible, which leads to us having a baptismal date with him for the 3rd of August. God works in marvelous ways because he truly loves us. Another cool miracle this week was our friend Amber. She's from China and is doing volunteer work here in Romania. This week we started teaching her Romanian/Gospel and its been really great! She also loves the piano so she played the piano for us at church! She loved ch...

Week 3 in the books!

HEYYYYY YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS???? It is email time!!!!!!!!! This week was full of entertainment and I have a lot to tell you so listen up! Sunday was another great day in the MTC! The talks in our sacrament meeting were focused around the Holy Ghost which really brought the spirit to the meeting. We also got the opportunity to watch a talk by Elder Bednar called "Recognizing the Spirit". I learned really one big thing from that talk and it was to QUIT WORRYING ABOUT IT!!!! If you are given a prompting and it tells you to do something good, then do it. It is the Holy Ghost working among you and you should not doubt that fact. I really loved how even though that talk was years in the past, it stills applies to today! I was also called to be Zone Leader of my entire Zone , which freaks me out cause I am the youngest elder out of all of them but I feel blessed to be put in that position. My zone is gonna rock!!  (A zone is a group of missionary districts, and districts ar...

Christmas Without Sarmale Does Not Exist

Hey everyone this was a great week here in Timisoara!! So this week we had TRANSFERS!! So usually I don't freak out because of transfers but since a lot of missionaries are coming in and out, a lot of things are going to happen regardless of who you are. I am one of those people who faced some change because of transfers. I will no longer be training Elder Strobel here in Timisoara, but I am a Zone Leader with Elder Dahl in Cluj. So I'm pretty surprised, but excited at the same time. Even though I'm leaving Timisoara and Elder Strobel, the work still goes on and I know that I am needed in Cluj for a reason. I'm excited to be with Elder Dahl and to learn from him and to work hard alongside him in Cluj. I'm excited to be a Zone Leader and to lead this West Zone and to help it bring success and see the fruit of our labors. I am very grateful for the time I spent in Timisoara and I know I am a better person and a better missionary because of it. I am ready to bring ...
