It's Bumpin' in Bucuresti!

HEYYY THIS WEEK WAS AWESOMEEE!!!!!

Tuesday we had 1) A lot of snow.... and 2) WE GOT A BAPTISMAL DATE!!!!! We had a lesson with this man named Bogdan and he was super awesome and everything was awesome! We met him at a games night and then he came to church and wanted to learn more so we met up with him. We taught him the Restoration and he absolutely loved it. He felt the Spirit super strongly and mentioned to us that he really wants to change. So we told him about how we can be made clean and forgiven through repentance and baptism for the remission of sins. He absolutely loved that and said he would for sure be baptized. So we set up a baptismal date for April 21 so please pray for Bogdan because this path is the one true path back to our Heavenly Father. All the missionaries we told were super pumped and everyone absolutely loves this man and his decision to be baptized.

SNOW

Wednesday we had a lesson with our friends Daria and Andreea with the other sister missionaries and we had a super great lesson about the Plan of Salvation with them. Andreea was very sensitive to the Spirit and asked great great questions while Daria was really weird and just didn't make sense. The lesson went great though and we gave them over to the other missionaries for them to work their magic. We then went over to a member's place named Familia Mustata. They are a wonderful family and very strong in the gospel. We talked about 2 Nephi 31 and how the Gospel of Jesus Christ is how we can receive eternal life. It was a great time with them and I enjoyed every second of it (plus they have this cute kid named Matei and he is soooo amazing haha).

Thursday we went over to another member's house named Fratele Socaciu and that was a great time as well. We talked about 2 Nephi 31 as well and he really enjoyed the part about enduring to the end. We need to keep living in harmony with the gospel of Jesus Christ in order to receive eternal life in the end. As an 80 year old man, he was pretty awesome and I enjoyed our time with him.

Friday we talked a lot about the Book of Mormon and how we can use that in the conversion process with our investigators. It was a really good day and I enjoyed our discussions in district meeting about the Book of Mormon in general.

Saturday we had exchanges with the Zone Leaders so I was with someone named Elder Krieger. We had a really good day and I learned a lot. I keep continually learning of how big a role I play in teaching situations and how I need to step up to the plate. I did not realize that my words are just as powerful as my companions, regardless of the situation. Elder Krieger mentioned that to me and it was probably the biggest thing that stuck on our exchange. He mentioned that the Spirit is strong in the words I say and that I shouldn't ever back down from speaking from the heart. It was a pretty awesome day!

Downtown Bucuresti

Sunday was ELDER WARD'S BIRTHDAY! So that was fun had a great time overall. We taught Bogdan again and this time we taught about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and that was a really good lesson. He is continually growing in his faith and that is a sign of his awesome conversion to the message with have to share. That was the best birthday gift for Elder Ward (except my Rubix cube for him was a pretty close second haha).

I love you and miss you all and hope you are all rocking the world! Keep the fire burning!!!!

Va iubesc,
Elder Bowen

Stand Ye in Holy Places

Hey everyone!!! So this was a really big week and a good amount of things went down, but I don't have all the time to talk about them, so I'll just give you all the basics! Bowen and Hoisington in the street! So the highlight and downfall of this week was when we set a baptismal date with Felix for about 24 hours. So we met up with him this week and we had a lesson about the Plan of Salvation. We had Fratele Matei with us and he was a big help for us because he loves this lesson. So we teach and it went really well and we set a date for August 18th! We were happy, Matei was happy, it was great. But we were talking with him at night and he said he no longer had any faith. So naturally, we meet up with him again and it was an interesting meeting. Essentially he is looking for historical evidence that the Book of Mormon is true and he doesn't have that evidence that it is true. So, we dropped his date and we won't be meeting with him anymore until he starts having ...

Day 1 - to the Provo Missionary Training Center

Day 1 (from David not Cole) The day began so early.  We arrived at the Des Moines Airport at 4:30 for a 6:00 Flight.  Checking in was no problem, but it became real that this was the first steps in embarking on this two year adventure. Saying goodbye was hard for all, but we all kept it all together. The itinerary took Cole from Des Moines to Dallas-Fort Worth to Salt Lake City.  He fortunately met up with a couple other missionaries enroute to the Provo Missionary Training Center (MTC). Aunt Lisa met Cole at the airport.  The flight was slightly delayed, but they were able to get out of Salt Lake quickly as his bags were the first off the plane. We spoke with Cole as they traveled to Provo.  He was in good spirits, and proud to have navigated security, connections, gate changes, and all that excitement. In Provo, he also met up with his Aunt Sara and her family (Uncle Simon, Kajsa, Brynn, Maya, Isak) and Uncle Scott and his family (Aun...

"Whatever it is, we are against it" - Romania?

Hey everyone it was a pretty great week in Bucuresti! Tuesday we had exchanges with the Zone Leaders and I went with Elder Krylborn. He's a pretty awesome guy and we had a really solid day! We spoke in Romanian for a good amount of the day and focused a lot on how to keep accountable with the goals we have set. Overall, it was a great day and we were able to see a lot of success because of our hard work!   At a mall in Bucharest - me being me Wednesday we didn't do much overall except we had someone try to fix our hot water and have it ultimately fail so they told us they would try again the next day. So that was fun? Thursday we had a good day as we met with a member named Fang Shuang (he's from China) do his Family History so that was pretty awesome!! We also got some pretty great lunch with him so that was pretty great! We then had a lesson with a man named Florian who ended up being super awesome! We taught a 30 minute Restoration and he ab...
