Visa and Christmas

Heyyyy my week was pretty long and fun so listen up!!
Teach everyone, right?

Tuesday I finally became legal in Romania!! We finally finished my visa work which was a huge burden lifted off my shoulders. Because of visa stuff, we had an extremely long and busy day which was not the greatest thing in the world but it means we were doing missionary work right. A busy missionary is a good missionary!

Wednesday was a simple day overall. We were able to go over to Sora Delia's house and talk with her about our Christmas play that is going on. The fun part about that trip was I learned that I am Joseph for our Nativity play...Honestly quite weird but hey I need to serve my branch and I guess I need to be Joseph to accomplish that haha. She is also very impressed with how my Romanian is coming along. I called her to set up the appointment that day and she was so surprised that I was the one calling. She said I spoke beautifully and I felt good about that.

Thursday was a big contacting day for us. We didn't have much planned for the day so we hit the streets and tried to talk to people. We found a lot of success because of that! We met this man named Vasile and we ended up talking to him for 2 hours about religion and we taught him the first lesson which ended very well. We gave him a Book of Mormon and we hope he turns out to be awesome. We finished the night by essentially getting Bible bashed by this man named George. He is a super nice man but he wanted to meet up and say how the Book of Mormon is not true and has false stuff in it. Well Elder Dixon and I are witnesses that he did not get very far. We bore our testimonies of the Book of Mormon and stopped him in his tracks. We invited him to read the Book of Mormon and pray to know that it is true. I know the Book of Mormon is true and my testimony stands no matter what people say.

Friday would have been district meeting but because we are a 2 man city, that didn't happen. But we did plan out our week and organized everything on a cute little whiteboard. We also had a lesson with this woman named Liliana and it went quite well. We read the Book of Mormon with her and we hope she continues to read as well.

Saturday was pretty simple as we started preparing our English classes which will be difficult with only 2 elders. But we will make things work as we always do. We practiced for the Christmas program and turns out I just stand there which is super nice!! Still very weird being Joseph but oh well haha. We also met this man named Paul on the street and we talked for only 5 minutes but we invited him to church.

A pretty Romania Sunset

Sunday was a very quality day to begin with. At church, we had 16 people come which was super awesome for Galati. Paul and his son Andrei came and they said they really enjoyed church and want to keep coming each week and they want to know how to become members!!! So we are hopefully going to meet up with him more and prepare him for baptism! I was also called to be the 2nd counselor in the Branch Presidency which is pretty scary especially if I have to conduct any meetings. (A branch is a small local church congregation.  It typically has a president and two counselors who help manage the business, conduct meetings, and teach, so it is some different responsibility than he has typically had)  I But it is all good. The rest of the night was a bust but it was a good day.

I want all of you to know that this church is true. Being a missionary, I have first hand experience on how the gospel, the Book of Mormon, etc. has impacted people, including myself. I implore everyone of you to read the Book of Mormon because it is super amazing and you will feel the spirit enrich your soul. Also, I invite you to serve people. Every day you wake up, wake up with the mentality that you will make a difference in the life of someone. I love you all and miss you all so much! I hope everyone is rocking life!!!

Stand Ye in Holy Places

Hey everyone!!! So this was a really big week and a good amount of things went down, but I don't have all the time to talk about them, so I'll just give you all the basics! Bowen and Hoisington in the street! So the highlight and downfall of this week was when we set a baptismal date with Felix for about 24 hours. So we met up with him this week and we had a lesson about the Plan of Salvation. We had Fratele Matei with us and he was a big help for us because he loves this lesson. So we teach and it went really well and we set a date for August 18th! We were happy, Matei was happy, it was great. But we were talking with him at night and he said he no longer had any faith. So naturally, we meet up with him again and it was an interesting meeting. Essentially he is looking for historical evidence that the Book of Mormon is true and he doesn't have that evidence that it is true. So, we dropped his date and we won't be meeting with him anymore until he starts having ...

Day 1 - to the Provo Missionary Training Center

Day 1 (from David not Cole) The day began so early.  We arrived at the Des Moines Airport at 4:30 for a 6:00 Flight.  Checking in was no problem, but it became real that this was the first steps in embarking on this two year adventure. Saying goodbye was hard for all, but we all kept it all together. The itinerary took Cole from Des Moines to Dallas-Fort Worth to Salt Lake City.  He fortunately met up with a couple other missionaries enroute to the Provo Missionary Training Center (MTC). Aunt Lisa met Cole at the airport.  The flight was slightly delayed, but they were able to get out of Salt Lake quickly as his bags were the first off the plane. We spoke with Cole as they traveled to Provo.  He was in good spirits, and proud to have navigated security, connections, gate changes, and all that excitement. In Provo, he also met up with his Aunt Sara and her family (Uncle Simon, Kajsa, Brynn, Maya, Isak) and Uncle Scott and his family (Aun...

"Whatever it is, we are against it" - Romania?

Hey everyone it was a pretty great week in Bucuresti! Tuesday we had exchanges with the Zone Leaders and I went with Elder Krylborn. He's a pretty awesome guy and we had a really solid day! We spoke in Romanian for a good amount of the day and focused a lot on how to keep accountable with the goals we have set. Overall, it was a great day and we were able to see a lot of success because of our hard work!   At a mall in Bucharest - me being me Wednesday we didn't do much overall except we had someone try to fix our hot water and have it ultimately fail so they told us they would try again the next day. So that was fun? Thursday we had a good day as we met with a member named Fang Shuang (he's from China) do his Family History so that was pretty awesome!! We also got some pretty great lunch with him so that was pretty great! We then had a lesson with a man named Florian who ended up being super awesome! We taught a 30 minute Restoration and he ab...
