Chicken and Ciorba

Hello everybody! This week was pretty sweet! Listen up y'all!

Elder Dixon and me and some Christmas Lights
Tuesday was pretty normal. We tried to finish visa stuff but turns out we don't have all the stuff to complete that. So I am still illegal in the country so that is kinda scary haha. But it was pretty normal and nothing big happened.

Wednesday we were going to have a lesson with this man named Anton but he had to leave like right after the prayer. But he told us that he felt so much peace and happiness when we said the prayer. He really wants to come to church and change his life around because he is raising a daughter by himself. He is a great man and I see a lot of potential with him. We also used the new Light the World video a lot while block knocking and a lot of people are super interested in what Christmas is truly about.

Thursday was Thanksgiving! But Romanians do not celebrate that so that was sad haha. We had 2 lessons fall through which was pretty rough but hey, come what may and love it! Life has it's rough patches but we have to move on from them. We didn't do much except we did go eat burgers for thanksgiving which was awesome! I am super glad they have burgers here in Romania!!

Friday was a gross day. We spent basically the planning this Thanksgiving party for our English classes but only 5 people showed up overall. But the food we cooked was super good even though it was just chicken and potatoes. Us missionaries can cook I tell you!! Afterwards, we talked about what we are grateful and it was a really great night after a really gross and tiring day.

Saturday was pretty slow. The highlight was meeting this man named Constatine who is super interested in the gospel. He is 79 years old but he is such a great guy. He says he wants to be baptized in the spring which is great and sad cause who knows if I'll be here in Galati. But he was fun to talk to and he will be someone we try to talk to for a long time.

The church in Galati

Sunday was pretty good. Church was pretty sweet even though 9 people showed up. We went to take the sacrament to an older member and her daughter made us ciorba or Romanian soup. It was not that bad and it was my first Romanian meal ever! It was a quality start but I am scared for the future haha.

This week had Thanksgiving and I just want to say how thankful I am. I am thankful for a family who is strong in the gospel and is supporting me here on this mission. I am thankful for this mission and the opportunity to serve others. I am thankful for my friends and mentors who have helped me grow to become the person I am today. I am thankful for this church that has been such an impact on my spiritually. I am thankful for God and his perfect love for me everyday. I am thankful for Jesus Christ and his sacrifice and sufferings so I can return to live with God again. I am thankful for my trials and suffering because they help me grow to love myself more and all my many blessings much more.

With Every Hardship, There is Ease

Hey everyone, this was a pretty fun week for us! First off, crazy awesome miracle!!! So for the past couple weeks, we haven't been able to get in contact with our good friend Dragoș. But we found him on the street and we invited him to church and the most amazing thing happened. He told us that these past weeks he had been in the hospital because of something with his head. But while in the hospital, he had a dream with an angelic person telling him that he needed to be baptized in the church of Jesus Christ. So on Sunday he told us he wants to be baptized as soon as possible, which leads to us having a baptismal date with him for the 3rd of August. God works in marvelous ways because he truly loves us. Another cool miracle this week was our friend Amber. She's from China and is doing volunteer work here in Romania. This week we started teaching her Romanian/Gospel and its been really great! She also loves the piano so she played the piano for us at church! She loved ch...

Week 3 in the books!

HEYYYYY YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS???? It is email time!!!!!!!!! This week was full of entertainment and I have a lot to tell you so listen up! Sunday was another great day in the MTC! The talks in our sacrament meeting were focused around the Holy Ghost which really brought the spirit to the meeting. We also got the opportunity to watch a talk by Elder Bednar called "Recognizing the Spirit". I learned really one big thing from that talk and it was to QUIT WORRYING ABOUT IT!!!! If you are given a prompting and it tells you to do something good, then do it. It is the Holy Ghost working among you and you should not doubt that fact. I really loved how even though that talk was years in the past, it stills applies to today! I was also called to be Zone Leader of my entire Zone , which freaks me out cause I am the youngest elder out of all of them but I feel blessed to be put in that position. My zone is gonna rock!!  (A zone is a group of missionary districts, and districts ar...

Christmas Without Sarmale Does Not Exist

Hey everyone this was a great week here in Timisoara!! So this week we had TRANSFERS!! So usually I don't freak out because of transfers but since a lot of missionaries are coming in and out, a lot of things are going to happen regardless of who you are. I am one of those people who faced some change because of transfers. I will no longer be training Elder Strobel here in Timisoara, but I am a Zone Leader with Elder Dahl in Cluj. So I'm pretty surprised, but excited at the same time. Even though I'm leaving Timisoara and Elder Strobel, the work still goes on and I know that I am needed in Cluj for a reason. I'm excited to be with Elder Dahl and to learn from him and to work hard alongside him in Cluj. I'm excited to be a Zone Leader and to lead this West Zone and to help it bring success and see the fruit of our labors. I am very grateful for the time I spent in Timisoara and I know I am a better person and a better missionary because of it. I am ready to bring ...
