Romanian Corn is not Iowan Corn....

Hey everyone how is life!!! Cause life is a party here!!!

So I got my new companion! His name is Elder Strobel from Idaho Falls and he's a pretty chill guy. We are super excited to get work done here in Timisoara!!

Receiving Elder Strobel has been pretty great and we have been learning and growing together and we have had many opportunities to teach together. We have had lessons everyday and each one has gone very well. We taught our friend Raul about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and he liked it a lot. We invited him to baptism, but he wants to ask his parents before he makes a decision just yet. He's been reading and praying, but he has not come to church and I don't think he totally understands the importance just yet. His parents have told him he can come to church but every week his parents have plans and he can't come. We are hoping to teach him the commandments this week, with an emphasis on the sabbath day and church attendance.

We also had a few Restoration lessons with a girl named Luciana and a woman named Irina. Luciana really liked the Restoration and was really excited to read the Book of Mormon. She just seems solid and we're going to meet with her tomorrow and teach her again. Then the lesson with Irina was really interesting. She came and we were talking about the Restoration and she kept asking these really good questions, whether it be the sabbath day or baptism or sacrament. It was scattered but we managed to get it back on track and testify about the Book of Mormon and how it will answer our questions. Elder Strobel shared a good verse about Jesus Christ, showing how the Book of Mormon is another testament of Him. It was pretty good and she said she would read that day. We then kept seeing her throughout the week and had an impromptu lesson about the commandments (blessings of doing companion study outside the church and on a park bench. I'm a believer now!)

Now, our last lesson we had this week was with Marius, a friend who has been coming to church for so long. We had a lesson with him and he brought up questions that have been on his mind. The big question was how can he really know that Russell M. Nelson is a prophet of God. He explained that he hasn't had any personal experiences with him and he doesn't have that confirming witness of his prophetic authority. This was when the Spirit blew us all away as Elder Strobel testified that if he reads and studies the life and words of Russell M. Nelson, he will gain a witness by the Holy Ghost. The Spirit was so strong and we all were touched. I felt very proud for my young companion and his witness of the prophet Russell M. Nelson.

I have spent time praying and asking for patience and humility so I can be able to be a better teacher and example for my companion. It's super hard and frustrating at times, but I am definitely becoming a better missionary because of him and I hope he is learning and growing as well. It should be good here in Timisoara. Pray for help and support from Heavenly Father. He loves you and will give you strength to bear the burdens put upon your backs. I love you all and hope you all have a great week!!

Va iubesc,
Elder Bowen

With Every Hardship, There is Ease

Hey everyone, this was a pretty fun week for us! First off, crazy awesome miracle!!! So for the past couple weeks, we haven't been able to get in contact with our good friend DragoČ™. But we found him on the street and we invited him to church and the most amazing thing happened. He told us that these past weeks he had been in the hospital because of something with his head. But while in the hospital, he had a dream with an angelic person telling him that he needed to be baptized in the church of Jesus Christ. So on Sunday he told us he wants to be baptized as soon as possible, which leads to us having a baptismal date with him for the 3rd of August. God works in marvelous ways because he truly loves us. Another cool miracle this week was our friend Amber. She's from China and is doing volunteer work here in Romania. This week we started teaching her Romanian/Gospel and its been really great! She also loves the piano so she played the piano for us at church! She loved ch...

Christmas Without Sarmale Does Not Exist

Hey everyone this was a great week here in Timisoara!! So this week we had TRANSFERS!! So usually I don't freak out because of transfers but since a lot of missionaries are coming in and out, a lot of things are going to happen regardless of who you are. I am one of those people who faced some change because of transfers. I will no longer be training Elder Strobel here in Timisoara, but I am a Zone Leader with Elder Dahl in Cluj. So I'm pretty surprised, but excited at the same time. Even though I'm leaving Timisoara and Elder Strobel, the work still goes on and I know that I am needed in Cluj for a reason. I'm excited to be with Elder Dahl and to learn from him and to work hard alongside him in Cluj. I'm excited to be a Zone Leader and to lead this West Zone and to help it bring success and see the fruit of our labors. I am very grateful for the time I spent in Timisoara and I know I am a better person and a better missionary because of it. I am ready to bring ...

Week 3 in the books!

HEYYYYY YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS???? It is email time!!!!!!!!! This week was full of entertainment and I have a lot to tell you so listen up! Sunday was another great day in the MTC! The talks in our sacrament meeting were focused around the Holy Ghost which really brought the spirit to the meeting. We also got the opportunity to watch a talk by Elder Bednar called "Recognizing the Spirit". I learned really one big thing from that talk and it was to QUIT WORRYING ABOUT IT!!!! If you are given a prompting and it tells you to do something good, then do it. It is the Holy Ghost working among you and you should not doubt that fact. I really loved how even though that talk was years in the past, it stills applies to today! I was also called to be Zone Leader of my entire Zone , which freaks me out cause I am the youngest elder out of all of them but I feel blessed to be put in that position. My zone is gonna rock!!  (A zone is a group of missionary districts, and districts ar...
