The Golden Week

The car told me to do it.

Hello hello people! This week was GOLDEN for many multiple reasons!

Galati Branch with President and Sister Hettinger
Tuesday was an okay day. We did mainly contacting because of the lack of people to talk to, but that's perfectly okay! We started English classes back up but not many people showed up and that is a bummer. However, we think it's because colleges are having their exams right now so we will see for the future. But it was pretty sweet because we learned that we are moving apartments to a much much nicer one.

Wednesday was the highlight of our week. We had a long day of moving stuff and studies before we went over to Sora Prada to talk with her. It went pretty nicely and we felt the Spirit as we talked about faith and it's importance. But the big, amazing highlight was when we were bloc knocking late that night. We wanted to get inside and teach someone the Restoration but no one was having it. We were tired and wanted to go home but we tried this last door and the craziest thing happened. We actually were let inside and taught the Restoration!! And the great thing is the couple we taught, named Corniliu and Ilina, were asking so many questions and absolutely loving our message. We were able to give them a Book of Mormon and set up a time to teach them the Plan of Salvation. Always work hard and never give up even when life is getting you down. We then called President Hettinger about the great news and he was super pumped for us and excited to hear what happens next.

Thursday was a meh day compared to Wednesday. We kept moving apartments and studies and had a pretty normal day in Galati. Contacting was a struggle but we all have those days when stuff goes wrong and nothing works out. It's just more prevalent in Galati haha.

Friday I officially finished my 12 weeks of training essentially and it was pretty great. These first 12 weeks were pretty tough but it doesn't matter how tough they are because as long as you work hard and be obedient, the Lord will find ways to bless you in any situation you are in. And I have felt that so much with all the blank contacting days here. It's hard to not see the success right away, but over time, you will notice how much things have changed for the better. The Lord works in small and simple things.
The biggest church in Galati all lit up at night

Fun shot with the Cartea Lui Mormon (I love this book!)

Saturday marked my 4 months away on my mission and it is super crazy to see how time flies! The highlight of the day was bloc knocking and knocking into a family with a man from California. We talked with him and he was such a cool guy and he said he would totally be down for us coming and teaching his family this coming week. Talk about a solid find to finish the day!!!

Sunday was a great day at church. We got a text from the Hettingers saying they were coming to Galati and we were super stoked!! It was awesome to see them and see their excitement when we told them all about our pretty great week. They are excited for Galati and really believes that Galati has potential in it. They are putting huge trust in us and have confidence that we can create a spark for the people in Galati.

Wake up each day with the mindset that you are going to change the world and then do it. Take action before the moment is gone. Love you all and miss you a whole bunch. Keep being awesome!!

Va iubesc,
Elder Bowen

Stand Ye in Holy Places

Hey everyone!!! So this was a really big week and a good amount of things went down, but I don't have all the time to talk about them, so I'll just give you all the basics! Bowen and Hoisington in the street! So the highlight and downfall of this week was when we set a baptismal date with Felix for about 24 hours. So we met up with him this week and we had a lesson about the Plan of Salvation. We had Fratele Matei with us and he was a big help for us because he loves this lesson. So we teach and it went really well and we set a date for August 18th! We were happy, Matei was happy, it was great. But we were talking with him at night and he said he no longer had any faith. So naturally, we meet up with him again and it was an interesting meeting. Essentially he is looking for historical evidence that the Book of Mormon is true and he doesn't have that evidence that it is true. So, we dropped his date and we won't be meeting with him anymore until he starts having ...

Day 1 - to the Provo Missionary Training Center

Day 1 (from David not Cole) The day began so early.  We arrived at the Des Moines Airport at 4:30 for a 6:00 Flight.  Checking in was no problem, but it became real that this was the first steps in embarking on this two year adventure. Saying goodbye was hard for all, but we all kept it all together. The itinerary took Cole from Des Moines to Dallas-Fort Worth to Salt Lake City.  He fortunately met up with a couple other missionaries enroute to the Provo Missionary Training Center (MTC). Aunt Lisa met Cole at the airport.  The flight was slightly delayed, but they were able to get out of Salt Lake quickly as his bags were the first off the plane. We spoke with Cole as they traveled to Provo.  He was in good spirits, and proud to have navigated security, connections, gate changes, and all that excitement. In Provo, he also met up with his Aunt Sara and her family (Uncle Simon, Kajsa, Brynn, Maya, Isak) and Uncle Scott and his family (Aun...

"Whatever it is, we are against it" - Romania?

Hey everyone it was a pretty great week in Bucuresti! Tuesday we had exchanges with the Zone Leaders and I went with Elder Krylborn. He's a pretty awesome guy and we had a really solid day! We spoke in Romanian for a good amount of the day and focused a lot on how to keep accountable with the goals we have set. Overall, it was a great day and we were able to see a lot of success because of our hard work!   At a mall in Bucharest - me being me Wednesday we didn't do much overall except we had someone try to fix our hot water and have it ultimately fail so they told us they would try again the next day. So that was fun? Thursday we had a good day as we met with a member named Fang Shuang (he's from China) do his Family History so that was pretty awesome!! We also got some pretty great lunch with him so that was pretty great! We then had a lesson with a man named Florian who ended up being super awesome! We taught a 30 minute Restoration and he ab...
