Chillin' like a Romanian

What is up all my friends?? This week was another solid week in Galati!

Outside a Chinese Restaurant in Galati
Tuesday was a pretty chill day, mainly because we had to wait for people to fix our radiators. But it was worth the wait because of apartment is now very warm and I am really enjoying it. We didn't have too much success contacting but we taught English and people actually showed up! It was pretty chill and we had a great lesson.

Wednesday we went over to Sora Delia's and it was such a great morning because she made us food and she is an extremely good cook. We talked about missionary work with her and invited her to give a Book of Mormon to someone and invite them to church. We then made a lot of calls to people to try and set up a lesson of some sorts. It lead to a lot of deleted numbers, but we managed to set up a lesson with this guy named Ionut. He is an interesting guy and I'm not really sure where he stands after our lesson, but he told us that he felt something good after our lesson and that is a very good sign. The Holy Ghost is real!!! And it can touch the hearts of the most surprising people.

Thursday was a pretty nasty day weather wise, so we stayed in our apartment until it started to clear up a little better. We did some studies and the weather eventually cleared up for us to go outside and not die. Nothing big happened though during the day.

Friday we planned for the next week and we are once again super pumped for this week, even though our big potential investigators aren't free until February. We are pumped because we are going to achieve total domination in Galati and work towards knocking all the blocs possible. It honestly makes me excited to bloc knock because who doesn't love total domination of a city??

Saturday we started our quest for Domination, but it didn't start off too hot. We knocked 34 doors and only 1 person answered but that is only the beginning. We have an entire city to knock and we will find someone to teach in Galati, even if it takes all the blocs. We also had a lesson fall through once again which made the day a little worse, but everyday ends on a high note when your apartment is warm!

Sunday was a nice day at church. We didn't get any potentials at church but this gypsy kid showed up so that was pretty nice (I guess haha). We were then bunged again by this person, so we didn't have the most productive afternoon. But we went and had a Family Home Evening with Familia Stancu and it was a very fun evening. We played games and everyone was super happy and enjoying the evening. We then discussed Elder Holland's talk "Be Ye Therefore Perfect--Eventually". We are all imperfect beings who will never become perfect unless we strive to follow the perfect example of Jesus Christ. We will be blessed if we try our best to improve ourselves everyday to become like Christ. After the discussion, we wrote down ways we can each try to improve ourselves. It was super great and we definitely ended our evening on a high note.

Without hard work, nothing grows but weeds. But don't forget to be happy while you work. Service with a smile as a goose once said in Kung Fu Panda (At least I think so..). I miss you all and hope you are all having a super fun time living life! Live life to the fullest!!

Va iubesc,
Elder Bowen

Stand Ye in Holy Places

Hey everyone!!! So this was a really big week and a good amount of things went down, but I don't have all the time to talk about them, so I'll just give you all the basics! Bowen and Hoisington in the street! So the highlight and downfall of this week was when we set a baptismal date with Felix for about 24 hours. So we met up with him this week and we had a lesson about the Plan of Salvation. We had Fratele Matei with us and he was a big help for us because he loves this lesson. So we teach and it went really well and we set a date for August 18th! We were happy, Matei was happy, it was great. But we were talking with him at night and he said he no longer had any faith. So naturally, we meet up with him again and it was an interesting meeting. Essentially he is looking for historical evidence that the Book of Mormon is true and he doesn't have that evidence that it is true. So, we dropped his date and we won't be meeting with him anymore until he starts having ...

Day 1 - to the Provo Missionary Training Center

Day 1 (from David not Cole) The day began so early.  We arrived at the Des Moines Airport at 4:30 for a 6:00 Flight.  Checking in was no problem, but it became real that this was the first steps in embarking on this two year adventure. Saying goodbye was hard for all, but we all kept it all together. The itinerary took Cole from Des Moines to Dallas-Fort Worth to Salt Lake City.  He fortunately met up with a couple other missionaries enroute to the Provo Missionary Training Center (MTC). Aunt Lisa met Cole at the airport.  The flight was slightly delayed, but they were able to get out of Salt Lake quickly as his bags were the first off the plane. We spoke with Cole as they traveled to Provo.  He was in good spirits, and proud to have navigated security, connections, gate changes, and all that excitement. In Provo, he also met up with his Aunt Sara and her family (Uncle Simon, Kajsa, Brynn, Maya, Isak) and Uncle Scott and his family (Aun...

"Whatever it is, we are against it" - Romania?

Hey everyone it was a pretty great week in Bucuresti! Tuesday we had exchanges with the Zone Leaders and I went with Elder Krylborn. He's a pretty awesome guy and we had a really solid day! We spoke in Romanian for a good amount of the day and focused a lot on how to keep accountable with the goals we have set. Overall, it was a great day and we were able to see a lot of success because of our hard work!   At a mall in Bucharest - me being me Wednesday we didn't do much overall except we had someone try to fix our hot water and have it ultimately fail so they told us they would try again the next day. So that was fun? Thursday we had a good day as we met with a member named Fang Shuang (he's from China) do his Family History so that was pretty awesome!! We also got some pretty great lunch with him so that was pretty great! We then had a lesson with a man named Florian who ended up being super awesome! We taught a 30 minute Restoration and he ab...
